Ambassador Simonyi visited
Boston, MA from April 27-28. The Ambassador delivered a keynote speech at
a Business Conference hosted and organized by Mr. Gabor Garai, Honorary
Consul of Hungary, and the International Trade and Development Agency of
Hungary (ITD-H).
In a meeting with
Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, the Ambassador and the Governor
discussed the possibility of cooperation between Hungary and the state of
Massachusetts with special regard to venture capital investments in
Hungary and partnerships between high-tech American and Hungarian
companies in the field of medical technology and biotechnology. Ambassador
Simonyi also met with the President of the Massachusetts Senate, Robert E.
Travaglini.
Ambassador Simonyi met with
Dean Joseph Nye of the Kennedy School of Government and Dean Stephen W.
Bosworth and Executive Associate Dean Gerard F. Sheehan of the Fletcher
School of Law and Diplomacy. The Ambassador's schedule included numerous
lectures and presentations both at the Kennedy School at Harvard
University and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts
University. At the Kennedy School, he spoke to participants of the Black
Sea Security Program and the European Breakfast Series. At Fletcher, he
had a discussion with Anna Seleny's class about the European Union and
Hungary, and spoke at Professor Pfaltzgraff's International Security
Studies program luncheon lecture series.
Ambassador Simonyi met with
the leaders of the Society of Massachusetts Hungarians and participated in
a social event with the members of the Boston Hungarians Network.
